Far away over the ocean tonight,
Someone is sailing and thinking of home,
Far from the loved ones who wait in the harbor,
Searching the darkness for one little light.

I'm a watchman...in the night,
I'm a keeper of a light,
For the wanderer's returning
I must keep the watch fire burning,
I'm a watchman, I'm a watchman in the night.

I stood for days upon years
Watching the harbor lights.
Gave smiles to the wind,
And to the sea only tears
As it carried away my life.
Confessing my desire to none,
But the waves in my head.

Seashells crunched
Under the weight of my burdens.
The Lighthouse watched,
Feet sunk into sand,
As I try to flee the last tide.

Sail away with a fair ocean's breeze
With a cresting blue wave of the sea
With cables trimmed fast
And a canvas filled mast
On a fair ocean's breeze sail away.
